In an Australian mass participation first, we’ve got 1500 free entries to giveaway to people who have never done a fun run before. There are three simple criteria to be eligible;
“We know that 67.%% of Tasmanian’s are overweight or obese. We also know many people are doing it tough financially. So this program is about removing barriers of money and knowledge to get healthier,” Race Director Richard Welsh said.
Group training sessions with qualified coaches will be provided twice a week for 10 weeks leading up to the February 18 event.
“Summer starts tomorrow, so what better time to commit to getting healthy and active. If you’re a complete rookie to running and don’t know where to start. This is the program for you. Alternatively, if you just need a bit of motivation to get out the door and be more active, come join us for motivation.
Three key target areas will be focussed on to find the 1500 new entrants; Healthy Hobart participants, members of the Multicultural Society of Tasmania and 8 specially selected schools in great Hobart. Participants can choose from any of the four events to participate in;
Training will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, starting 12th December. Meeting point will be the Domain Cross Roads Ovals, at the Max Cherry Infinity Loop.
